Fibre Reinforced Plastics

Fibre Reinforced Plastics

About our customer

A leading manufacturer of fibreglass products Fibre Reinforced Plastics (FRP) services all of New Zealand and in particular the transport and architectural industries.

As makers of canopies for utes and camper van bodies, they need a tool that’s flexible and able to create the exacting shapes required.

Our sharp solution

Already users of our trip breaker compression cutters for plywood and consumables like saw blades, they turned to us for a tailor made solution for their transport industry work.

Because we have a depth of understanding of needs, we designed a custom made tool that cuts exacting canopy shapes. It’s an investment that’s performing so well it’s proven to be both cost effective and efficient!

To complete our service offering we worked with them to set up their CNC with an initial tooling package and we’re their go-to for a once-a-month overnight delivery of a bulk supply of standard cutters.

Styrotech CNC

Styrotech CNC

About our customer

As CNC machining experts who contract for other companies, there’s no compromising on quality for Styrotech CNC.

Working with composites such as polysterene, foams, phenolics, MDF and plywood they use phenolic tools, ballnose tools, straight cutters, chip breaker compression cutters, high performance composite routers and foam cutters.

Over the years of our partnership with Styrotech, we’ve developed an in-depth understanding of the types of tools these need for each materials.

Our sharp solution

Before working with Tungsten & Tool our customer hadn’t cut phenolic before. Instead of using two different tools – one to rough it out and one to finish - we helped source appropriate tools to reduce the work to one pass.

We have also provided some unusually shaped fit-for-purpose tool holders, and advised them on tool maintenance for longer lasting performance.
