About the project

This development contains 27 one-bedroom, 59 two-bedroom, and 16 three-bedroom homes which have been delivered across 8 buildings. They range in type and design from 2 storey terraces to 3 storey walk-ups and 5 storey apartments with lifts. There is also a small park for residents, along with a multi-purpose community room.

The CHallEnge

Induracore G2 is a unique ALP (aluminium laminated panel) cladding with 3 layers of aluminium, this is the perfect lightweight panel that can be used on any building, from high-end residential to high-rise buildings. ALPs are known for their lightweight, rigidity and resistance to oil canning properties. Due to its structure, the aluminium is not as gummy as standard ALP, enabling more standard single flute upcut aluminium cutters to be used.

THE RESULT

Working with Tungsten and Tool allowed the team to successfully rout APL cladding with single flute upcut cutters. Resulting in clean edges and good economy.

THE SOLUTION

The harder aluminium used in Induracore G2 forms a better chip form allowing the spiral upcut to extract the swarf out of the cut faster and cleaner, leading to reduced heat build-up.

Although ALPs can be routed dry, it is recommended that a cutting lube is used. For the Paneltec team, adding cutting lube reduced heat build-up even further, preventing the aluminium from sticking to the cutter, optimising the cut quality and enhancing the life of the the cutters.
